Shaping and Crafting the Short Distance Legato Phrase

In Assignment 3, we studied the wide legato phrase which spans at least a Major 7.  We had to have the shoulder help the whole hand get to the note.  But what about the short distance legato phrase that is no larger than the octave?  That would be “under the fingers” I guess we can say.  It’s time to get the wrist to help with a side-to-side movement.
